Bethany Community School's Strategic Plan

Strategic Goal 1:

BCS will be the highest performing and most sought-after college and career preparatory public school within Rockingham and surrounding counties.

Vision for High Academic Performance: All BCS students ACT and NC assessment scores are above state and national averages with all students aiming for excellence regardless of their previous academic performance. Students are prepared for college and career readiness such that every student graduates with a clear pathway to their post-secondary success whether that be in college, trade school, or job training.

Strategic Objective 1.1: Each Department has a clear and comprehensive education plan and course offerings to ensure all students are highly prepared for college or immediate career.

Strategic Objective 1.2: Departments meet regularly to identify progress toward the goals, working together as a team to share ideas, practice using hands-on tools, training for online tools, time to develop creative innovative and integrated lessons.

Strategic Objective 1.3: A school calendar and master schedule that provides the necessary time to develop all employees and provide students the necessary time to master all subjects.

Strategic Objective 1.4: Improve overall academic results through the development of a high performing instructional leadership team that will focus directly on student learning and achievement, as well as build teacher capacity through differentiated support.

Strategic Goal 2:

Embrace Rockingham and surrounding counties diversity through expanded academic and career curricular programming.Vision for Expanded Academic and Career Curricular Programming: The pathway to graduation is clear and serves students with niche interests and career pursuits. Our focus on academic excellence, profile of a graduate has allowed us to develop flourishing, strategic partnerships with local businesses, corporations, college and career ready learning organizations to expand our curriculum offerings and internship opportunities. Strategic Objective 2.1: Provide expanded course offerings in the way of music, art, sports, and/or specialized academies (including hands-on opportunities) that provide a focused, in-depth study of a particular subject.

Strategic Objective 2.2: Explore requirements and pathway options, gather feedback from staff and stakeholders and present recommendations to the BCS decision makers.

Strategic Objectives 2.3: Establish Curriculum Committee to oversee pathway implementation.

Parents are highly engaged, strategic partners in the school’s overall growth and improvement plan.

Vision for Parents as Partners: Parents and guardians of Bethany Community School are highly engaged in all aspects of the school’s environment; building bridges for school improvement through a respectful, inclusive school culture conducive for the highest levels of learning.

Strategic Objective 3.1: Parents and students are well educated on their role to support Bethany Community School’s mission, vision, goals, and academic achievement goals.

Strategic Objective 3.2: Parents, as strategic partners, are an integral part of the school’s improvement planning and decision making.

Strategic Objective 3.3: The definition of parent engagement at Bethany Community School is agreed upon, written clearly within the student handbook, communicated and measured regularly.

Strategic Objective 3.4: Student attendance expectations have been adopted, communicated, and
implemented.

Strategic Goal 4:

Is the most desired school to be employed by and grow as a professional in Rockingham and surrounding counties.

Vision for Working Conditions: BCS is fully staffed with highly qualified teaching professionals, retaining over 90% of our employees annually while building a strong pipeline of teacher recruits through their reputation of being a healthy, viable organization, and partnerships with colleges and universities. All BCS faculty are excited to come to work daily, committed to the school’s mission and vision, invested in not only their own professional development but the growth of every student and fellow colleagues. Our salaries and benefits are second to none while our teachers are models in the field of education.

Strategic Objective 4.1: Create the “ideal values based Bethany Community School employee” tenets and attributes identified by the school.

Strategic Objective 4.2: Establish multiple partnerships with teacher certification, employee development and placement programs to ensure a pipeline for talented teachers to join the BCS team.

Strategic Objective 4.3: Utilize internal and external working conditions climate surveys to create a positive and supportive work culture.

Strategic Objective 4.4: Establish ongoing leadership capacity development programs and internal process for expansion of professional opportunities for current employees.

Strategic Goal 5:

BCS will expand its overall impact in the community by doubling its overall enrollment.

Vision for Expansion: BCS students attend school daily on a strategically designed campus that includes adequate space for over 1,000 students that provides expanded learning opportunities.

Strategic Objective 5.1: Complete a strategic site plan for the newly purchased property.

Strategic Objective 5.2: Complete a long term financial review and plan.

Strategic Objective 5.3: Work to ensure over 90% of our students and parents are likely to recommend our school to another family to educate their child (Currently 79%).
