Middle School Compact

What is a School, Parent/Guardian, & Family Compact?
A School-Parent/Guardian Compact for Achievement is an agreement developed jointly by parents/guardians, students and teachers that follows the federal guidelines as stated in the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). The compact explains how parents/guardians and teachers will collaborate to make sure all students reach or exceed grade-level standards.

Vision

The guiding passion of Bethany Community School is to prepare each of our students to be citizens of exceptional character through community involvement, academic innovation, and scholastic excellence.

Mission

Bethany Community School will be the premier school of choice where academic rigor and character excellence are standards to cultivate college ready learners and strengthen community.

SIT Goals

1. The principal monitors curriculum and classroom instruction regularly and provides timely, clear, constructive feedback to teachers.

2. The school implements a tiered instructional system that allows teachers to deliver evidence-based instruction aligned with the individual needs of students across all tiers.

3. The school regularly communicates with parents/guardians about its expectations of them and the importance of the curriculum of the home (what parents can do at home to support their children's learning).

Commitment From the School

Provide frequent reports to parents/guardians on their student’s progress through weekly grade updates, four-week progress reports, and report cards at the end of each quarter.
Ensure weekly two-way, meaningful communication between family and school staff in English and Spanish.
Provide and communicate opportunities for parents/guardians and families to volunteer and participate in decisions related to their student’s education.
Provide opportunities for parents/guardians and families to engage with school staff regarding their student’s achievement utilizing different mediums for parent/ guardian convenience.
Recommend various resources to increase knowledge and understanding around equity issues.

Commitment from the Parents/Guardians & Family

Support school efforts toward inclusivity, celebrating diversity, and making connections.
Attend workshops/events/grade level meetings that focus on post-secondary opportunities.
Reach out to teachers/counselors to discuss options when students struggle in class.
Create and support appropriate time and space for homework assignments and/or missing classwork assignments.
Assuring your child is present at school unless there is an illness or absence that has been preapproved through the school.

Commitment From The Students

Attend school and class greater than 94% of the assigned school days.
Build relationships that are inclusive.
Use technology appropriately.
Take personal accountability in courses and make good grades to ensure preparation for high school academic opportunities.
Participate in discussions, activities, athletics, arts, and/or clubs to increase empathy, leadership skills, and connections.
