Apply to Bethany Community School

All applications are completed online, and we use Lotterease to manage the application process. The application period runs from November 1st to February 28th.

How to Apply:

1. Register and submit your application through Lotterease to be entered into the enrollment lottery.
2. The application process is simple and only asks for basic contact information so we can reach you if your child is accepted.

A lottery for each grade level will be held on March 5th. This lottery is done electronically and results are communicated as quickly as possible. Anyone is welcome to attend the lottery in person; although, we discourage students from attending this emotional event.

Some groups of students receive enrollment priority and will either be placed in the school automatically or have a separate lottery prior to the general lottery to determine who gets in.

By state law, the priority groups include:

• Children of current teachers and board members.
• Siblings of currently enrolled students.
• Siblings of students who attended BCS for at least four years, including the 12th grade.
• Students currently attending a different NC charter school that does not offer the student’s next grade level.

Important: We cannot know that a younger sibling exists or is interested in attending Bethany unless an application is submitted.

Special rules allow for students to be bundled together if they are siblings and living in the same household. When this occurs, only one name is entered in the lottery and both students are accepted should the number be drawn. Please contact the school with any questions about this process and your specific situation.

Students who are accepted will receive an enrollment packet containing important forms and information.

Here’s what you need to know:

• The packet must be completed and returned to the school by the deadline provided.
• The information in the packet is required to officially register your child. It will include:
  • Academic information
  • Records request forms
  • Health forms
  • Home language forms
  • Other necessary documents

To prepare for this process, we recommend gathering the following items in advance:

• Your child’s birth certificate
• Immunization record
• NC Health Transmittal Form (if not previously enrolled in a North Carolina public school)

The lottery will generate a waiting list that extends beyond the available slots. As space becomes available due to student withdrawals, we will automatically move down the waiting list using our Enrollment Management software.

Here’s how the process works:

• The next person on the waiting list will receive an email and text message notifying them of the offer.
• The notification will include a timeline (1 to 5 days) for confirming attendance.
• Important: Failure to confirm attendance within the designated time, will result in the automatic removal of the application and an automatic offer sent to the next person on the waiting list.

Please be prepared to respond promptly to ensure your child can be properly registered.

• The waiting list will remain active until October 1. After this date, all application information will be archived as we prepare for the next school year.
• Note: A new application is required each year for students who are not currently enrolled.
