Band and Chorus

Band 6

Beginning Band offers students an engaging introduction to playing band instruments. Designed as an extension of general music concepts learned in elementary school, this course provides a strong foundation in instrumental music. Open to all sixth-grade students, no prior experience is required to join. Students will learn the basics of music theory, instrument care, and performance skills.

Performances: 3 concerts throughout the school year showcase student progress and growth.

Band 7 and 8

Advanced Bands for seventh and eighth grades continue building on skills introduced in Beginning Band. Students will develop intermediate instrumental techniques, including note reading, rhythm patterns, dynamics, and ensemble playing. Instruction focuses on musical growth through more complex repertoire and a deeper understanding of music theory.

Performances: 3 concerts during the school year highlight the progression of skills and teamwork.

The Middle School Choral Club

The Middle School Choral Club is an extracurricular singing group that meets weekly throughout the school year. Students focus on building fundamental music and vocal skills, including proper singing technique and ensemble performance. The club performs alongside other middle school music ensembles at key events.

All music students are eligible to audition and participate in All-County, All-District, and All-State ensembles, offering additional challenges and experiences beyond the classroom.

High School Concert Band

High School Concert Band is open to high school students with at least 2 years of prior band experience. This course offers students a diverse and enriching instrumental music education with a focus on technical mastery, musicality, and ensemble performance. Students will have opportunities to perform in a variety of settings, emphasizing teamwork, discipline, and artistic growth.

Expectations: Students are encouraged to demonstrate musical improvement and contribute to the success of the ensemble.

The High School Chorus Program

The High School Chorus program is designed to enhance each student's musical, creative, and expressive abilities. Students will develop essential skills, including singing technique, music reading, and performance, while exploring a diverse range of repertoire. This course also emphasizes the connection between music, culture, and other academic disciplines.

Opportunities: Students will perform in various concerts and events throughout the school year.
