SEL Support
Welcome to Bethany Community School’s Counseling Services
Hello! My name is Melinda Gibson, and I am excited to serve as your school counselor at Bethany Community School. After working as a school social worker for 24 years, I pursued my degree in school counseling at Salem College in Winston-Salem. During the 2022–2023 school year, I completed my internship at Forsyth Academy, where I gained valuable experience supporting students individually, in groups, and through classroom lessons.
Now in my third year as a school counselor, I am committed to helping students navigate challenges that may affect their academics, personal growth, and social interactions. My work focuses on fostering positive relationships, supporting students in times of crisis, helping them recognize their strengths, and ensuring they feel safe and supported in their learning environment.
I also assist with classroom guidance lessons for middle school students, the development of 504 plans, and connecting families to outside resources when needed.
Students can meet with me by filling out a self-referral form located outside my office. Parents, teachers, or administrators can also refer students for counseling services. If you have questions or need support, you can reach me by email at mgibson@bcswolves.org or complete the Counselor Contact Form.
I look forward to working with our students and families to support their success and well-being!
